Golden Birthday

I was told that when the age you turn that year on your birthday is the same number as the day of your birthday its called your golden birthday, well this past birthday I celebrated my golden birthday. I turned 25 on the 25th of October! It's crazy to think that I am 25 years old, where has the time gone. My birthday fell on a Tuesday this year which kind of stunk because that is the one day that Lance has class and work all day from 9am to about 930pm so I knew I wouldn't get to see him all day. Lucky for me I have wonderful family here in Utah who helped make the day great.

The day started off with me walking up to these typed up notes all over the house

I found them everywhere! Some were in clearly seen places like on the walls and doors but what was even more sweet and cute was he hide some of these notes in places around the house where he knew I'd be going to sometime during the day and would find one of these notes as a nice surprise. For example, he had one of these notes hidden in the food cupboard by the cereal because he knew I'd look there when I went to eat breakfast. Some other surprise places were in the shower, in the bathroom medicine cabinet, in the fridge, in the dryer, in my lap top, and one in my car. So my whole morning was filled with getting all these surprise notes, what a wonderful way to start my birthday from my sweet husband.

The birthday fun continued with my wonderful and very thoughtful sister-in-law Megan and my adorable nephew Ben taking me out to lunch to this little whole in the wall place called Sammy's.

It was a lot of fun hanging with Megan and Ben and very sweet of them to take me to lunch!

After lunch I had a meeting with the Provo College Counselor to get me fully enrolled in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Not a lot of fun and excitement there just paperwork to fill out but it did kind of get me excited to start school.

Then for dinner my wonderful cousin Mallory and her adorable little girl Hadlee took me out to dinner. Mallory was sweet enough to let me pick where to eat for dinner. I had been thinking of where I wanted to eat and for a while I had been craving sushi at this one Japanese restaurant. Now Mallory is a vegetarian and I think sushi is the last thing a vegetarian wants to eat, but she was so sweet and said we could go get sushi. So we met up at the Sushi restaurant and as we were telling the server what we wanted to eat I noticed that on the menu it said you can get a free sushi roll on your birthday. By the time I had recognized this deal I had already ordered and Mallory was just finishing up with her order when I pipped in and said, "It's my birthday do I get a free sushi roll"? The server just stood there and looked at me like I was lying or something and then she asked if she could see my ID, to verify I wasn't lying probably, so I gladly showed her and told her the free sushi roll I wanted. It was a great birthday dinner spent with Mallory and Hadlee! Unfortunately no pictures were taken to capture this fun birthday event.

So after dinner I went home and patiently waited for Lance to get home from school. Around 930 there was a knock on the door and when I opened it Lance was standing there with a birthday cake.

He had stopped at a Dairy Queen on his way home from class and picked up an ice cream cake, how cute. I've never had an ice cream cake before, it was delicious.

He told me that he had a birthday gift in the works and it wasn't done yet so I'd have to wait a little bit till I could get that gift. Well the gift came about a week after my birthday and this is what it was...

A very cute canvas of one of our wedding pictures. We had talked about getting one of these awhile back and it seemed like once we had narrowed down the pictures we had liked we kind of stopped talking about it. Apparently Lance just wanted my opinion on pictures and he was going to do the rest and give it to me for a birthday gift, so thoughtful.

Another cute little gift made by Lance was he took all our honeymoon pictures and videos and made one big video, and showed the finished product to me for my birthday. It was so sweet of him to do that, it turned out so good! He's got a talent in making these kinds of videos.

The rest of the night we just ate some ice cream cake and watched episodes of the office. It was a great golden birthday! I am so grateful for all the family and friends who thought about me and wished me a happy birthday. I am truly blessed to have wonderful friends, a wonderful family and in-law family and a very thoughtful, caring, loving husband.

  1. Oh, that video gave me chills!! Love the bumpy bus ride, and the sweet, romantic pictures! Very nice job, as always, Lance.
I remember looking forward to my golden birthday all through jr. high and high school. (28 on the 28th). I just told Gabe a while back that I don't think I did ANYTHING special on that day---I think I completely forgot that it was the "golden" one!!
I'm glad yours was awesome--way to go on the ice-cream cake, Lance. You guys are so sweet!
