City of Rocks

Lance has been wanting to take me to see the City of Rocks in Idaho for quite some time now. They are what their name says they are, a City of random Rocks scattered around. They are cooler in person than they sound.

We left for Idaho one Friday night after I had gotten home from work. Poor Lance was having a major allergy attack the whole drive there.

Lance has a wonderful sister who lets us crash at her place anytime we head up to Idaho. The weather had been cloudy and rainy the past couple of days but we were hoping/praying it would clear up so we could spend the day at City of Rocks.

Well come Saturday morning the weather hadn't gotten any better. We decided to occupy our time with other things, again hoping/praying the weather would clear up later in the day.

Natalia and Ben. I told Natalia to smile and this is what I got, I'll have to try that type of
smile out sometime.

Lance and the kids playing with the kitten

You can tell Ben is just waiting for Anna to attack

Sisterly love. They did that all on their own, I didn't cue them or anything.

The boys looking out the window, hoping the rain will stop.

While picking up a birthday gift for Lance's mom Kathy, Lance thought it would be fun to open the sunroof... while it was raining! Okay it wasn't raining very hard and the girls loved sticking their head out the sunroof.

After we got the gift we made our way over to Grandpa Mitchell's house to visit. He is the sweetest, most loving, cutest grandpa. He is 90 years old and still has a good memory and sense of humor to him.

oh the many faces of the Yearsley girls :)

We told him to do a funny face and he said he just looks funny all the time.

The weather was slowly starting to clear up but not enough to go to City of Rocks quite yet. We decided to go to lunch in this little town called Albion. There was a sandwich place there that Lance remembers going to when he was younger and wanted to try it out again. Unfortunately when we got their that little sandwich place was no longer there. We settled on the only other restaurant in town called the Albion cafe.

The food was pretty good, at least I thought, but it was too expensive for how little food you got.

When we were all done eating the rain had stopped so we decided to finally head up to City of Rocks.

It's just a bunch of random rocks of all shapes and sizes scattered around.

Giant random rock

When you stood under this rock your voice would echo.

Off roading in the Corolla

Cute couple

Isn't he just dashing

It was pretty chilly standing up on those rocks, but it was a beautiful view.

Love the background in this picture

Gorgeous View

After we explored those rocks we made our way up to the main attraction. There are a couple of big rocks that have names that describe their look. Some of these interesting names are; Elephant rock, bread loaf rock, twin sisters rock, and finally the one we most wanted to see and climb is called bathtub rock.

This picture is of bathtub rock. It doesn't look much like a bathtub but it gets its name from the fact that there are big pools of water on the top and when it rains the pools get full of water and it drains down the rock.

Cute baby Clara dressed warm in her little bear outfit, and of course the beautiful Megan.

All bundled up, binky in mouth, and ready to hike.

Making our way around to the back of the rock were you can climb up it.

It's a fairly steep climb

Getting baby Clara strapped in.

The boys original plan was to hold on to the kids as we all hiked up to the top. Both Megan and I knew this wouldn't be the best idea. We decided to do a switch off, Lance and I would climb to the top first and then once we got down we'd watch the kids while Ross and Megan climbed up.

AWW

Making our way to the top. Luckily there were some metal handles to help assist on the climb up,
and especially on the way down

The weather got colder and colder the higher up we went. My hands
were freezing and they hurt trying to climb these not so soft rocks.

We made it to the top!

View from the top

Enjoying the view

It was SOOO cold on the top. While we were up there it started to snow, and not the soft
fluffy kind but the small hard pellets.

It was also very windy

About to make our way back down, this is the part in climbing that I get nervous about.

He was so sweet to help me down the rock.

Pretty steep climbing, but we survived.

These handles really helped when getting back down the rock.

Lance is so good at fulfilling all my picture requests.

At this point it had started snowing pretty hard. Luckily we had gotten all the way off the rock before then.

Some picture of how much snow was coming down.

It was a fun little trip to the City of Rocks, and I'm glad the weather cleared up long enough that we could climb a few of the rocks.

Picture Lance took while driving back home to Utah. Looks like we are about to
be swallowed up in these clouds.

That Monday after our fun filled weekend in Idaho was Memorial Day. Unfortunately Lance had to make up some school work he didn't do since we went to Idaho, so our day was spent inside.

He didn't move from that spot all day! Poor guy.

We still had fun just spending the day with each other, enjoying one anothers company. We did make ourselves a delicious pot roast meal and home made ice cream.

Delicious!

The start to making home made ice cream

Finished product- home made Oreo ice cream YUM!

Overall the weekend was a success. We got to see the wonderful Yearsley family and spend time with them. We got to see and climb some cool rocks, and we had one of our favorite meals and desserts. We are quite the adventurers.
