Pioneer Day

One thing I've always enjoyed about Utah is the fun festivities they have throughout summer. Each town has their own "special day" (or week) that they will have fun activities going on. One specific holiday celebrated in Utah that I enjoy is Pioneer Day. This holiday fell on a Thursday this year but lucky for us Lance's work had the day off. I knew somewhere in Utah some fun activity would be going on that we could go check out with Lance's family, I just needed to find it.

While driving one day I came upon a sign that said Lehi Foam Days, An event that would be going on for Pioneer day. When I got home I looked it up and thought it would be a fun thing for us to do, plus I thought Nixon would get a kick out of it.

When we got to the park we were a little surprised at how popular this foam event was. There were other activities going on at the park prior to the foam being released, but Nixon was a little to small for those activities so he had to wait patiently for the foam event to begin.

Waiting patiently for the foam to be released
stretching his legs before all the fun begins
it was time for the foam to be released. People stood behind the caution tape while fire fighters took giant hoses and released A LOT of foam onto the grass. Then on the count of 1,2,3 GO it became a mad house of people both young and old running into the foam. We tried to find a spot with as minimal people as possible (which wasn't easy) and Lance walked with Nixon in the foam. He didn't care for it like we had thought he would.

He didn't even want to touch the stuff
It's a "Where's Lance" kind of picture
Doesn't that look like a face of a kid who's having a good time.
Cousin Alisa was having a great time playing in the foam. Nixon should've taken notes from her on how to enjoy the foam.
One fire fighter noticed Nixon and thought he might like to touch the foam coming straight out of the hose.
He didn't really smile at the idea nor did he cry out in fear, So I would say deep down he enjoyed it.

I think we might try this foam event again next year, and maybe then Nixon will actually love running through the foam.

A little video of the foam event and Nixon's reaction to it all.
