A month ago we were able to go up to Idaho for a baby blessing for the newest nephew on the Mitchell side.
We went up a few days before the blessing to go to this indoor hot spring swimming pool that Lance used to go to when he was a kid. The pool was about an hour and a half away from Lance's sisters house so we decided to stay in a hotel close to the springs the night before.
Nixon was very excited he got curly fries for dinner
We shared the hotel room with Lance's brother and family. Nixon was a little sad he had to sleep in a pack in play in the corner of the room instead of in the pull out bed with his cousins Ben and Clara.
Aunt Megan is an amazing bed time story reader. Nixon doesn't sit that still for us.
The next day we headed up to the pool. It was interesting to see that the location of the pool was right next to a RV park/camp ground and a lake. Being a city girl I guess I'm used to swimming pools being next to buildings and such. :)
We got there right when it opened so we had the place pretty much to ourselves for a good while.
we purchased this blow up floaty for Nixon thinking he would love it (plus it would give our arms a break) but he actually seemed to hate the thing.
The pool had a little section that was just the right depth for the kids to play in. It was a little harder on me being pregnant and all to try and maneuver in such shallow of water.
The boys playing a little basketball
The boys wanted to have a swim race, and you can't have a race without googles. Ben and Clara were nice enough to let Lance and Ross use their googles for the race.
We worked up an appetite from swimming so we headed in to the local town for some Snake River Grill grub.
After eating we stopped and walked around a fish hatchery. I will admit I had no idea what a fish hatchery was or the fact that they actually "grow" fish to put in lakes and stuff.
If you look closely what Lance and Nixon are looking at is a giant sturgeon fish up against the side of the wall.
and just incase you don't know what a sturgeon is, its this scary looking thing!
tons and TONS of tiny fish are hatched in these green containers.
My sweet, happy boy
Our next stop of the day was to this pretty waterfall. I don't remember what the name of it was (or if it had a name) but it was very pretty to look at.
Some of the amazing pictures Lance took of the waterfall
I keep telling Lance he should side job as a photographer. :)
Another cool picture taken by Sir Lance
Cute family picture with the waterfall
Nixon looks all pictured out
What a cute couple
There was this old farm house/museum thing close by the waterfall that we decided to check out.
This building was used to milk cows and had the tools and everything they used to milk the cows from back then (don't remember exactly when "then" was).
This was the attic of an old barn we went into. Back in the day, one of the things they used this attic for was to host dances. How neat is that. :)
Nixon enjoyed running his little heart out in the attic.
After our great adventures of the day we finally decided to head over to Lance's sisters house and join the rest of the family.
After some much needed naps (mainly needed by me) we joined the cousins in this cool (Pinterest provided) bubble making activity. It was harder than it looked to make these bubbles, but my niece Maria was a pro at it.
Lance's siblings all had a baby within a years time. The oldest baby was born in March 2012 and Nixon was the last one born in February 2013.
Pretty neat huh? :)
The blessing was beautiful and we were glad we could make the trip up to be there for it and spend time with family.
A couple of weeks later we again had all of Lance's siblings in the same state when his sister Lindy and family came to spend time in Utah. While they were here we decided to go to the Provo Pool that had just been built not to long ago.
There was a park right next to the pool that we decided to play at while we ate lunch.
Look at that strong little boy and cutest smile (and tummy).
Nixon loves the slide but is still a little scared to go down by himself.
Is this not the cutest swim suit with built in floaty? :)
Nixon wasn't sure what face dad was making
Nose
Ready to go swimming
I love how cute his little bum looks in this suit :)
He loves jumping in
At this point the suit might've been hugging him a little to tight and he wanted out of it.
Lance and Ross climbing the rock wall
The new Provo pool was really cool and we will definitely be going back next summer when I think Nixon will appreciate all the pool has to offer a little more. :)
