October Festivities cont. - Halloween

I was excited for Halloween this year. Nixon was a year older and at that beginning age where he can kind of understand Halloween. I wasn't sure what to do for his costume until one day I was at the DI and I came across this Elmo costume and it was perfect! Nixon loves Elmo, plus he looks adorable in the costume. :)

Is he not the cutest!?
The cutest little Elmo you ever did see!
He was actually pretty good about keeping that head part on his head even though it would flop over his face from time to time. ha

I am one proud mama

I was very impressed at how well Nixon caught on to the whole trick or treating. Once he went to the first house and realized he got candy his eye's lit up and he wanted more. He kept saying "more tany, more tany"

I was going to have Jaxon be Elmo's fish friend Dorothy but I didn't get it put together in time so he was just a cute little pumpkin.

My parents came in to town over Halloween weekend because we were blessing Jaxon that coming Sunday.  It was a lot of fun having them here! Nixon is always in heaven when they come.

Nixon was excited to get this cool balloon monkey (or dog? I can't remember) but once he started getting candy the balloon animal was of no importance to him.

Leading the pack
Nixon LOVES dogs and though his desire for more sugar was strong, his love for dogs was stronger and he stopped to have a chat with this cute little dog.

I somehow forgot that Nixon would need a halloween bucket to put his candy in (we just used pillow cases when I was young) but my sister in law was sweet enough to let Nixon use this extra pink pumpkin bucket she had. :)
I took it upon myself to gather up Jaxon's trick or treat candy and enjoy eating it for him. :)

Nixon was pretty excited about all the yummy treats in his bucket. I thought he would keep trying to take them out and eat them but he didn't. He left the candy in there until we were all done.

Jaxon didn't care to take a cute Halloween picture for mom. It probably didn't help that his older brother kept wanting to give him a little head pat.

My handsome boys and a beautiful sunset

Nixon's little legs were getting a little tired at this point, but his desire for more "tany" was still going strong.

I love this picture because it shows how Lance would have to hold onto the eye of the Elmo costume to help guide Nixon along. :)
After all the walking and trick or treat saying Nixon finally got to reap the spoils of his labors,
He got a nice sugary sucker.

Though Nixon did well with keeping his costume on (
hood piece and all) he did NOT like the actual process of putting the costume on and taking it off. (as shown in the pictures provided)

Free at last!

I would say halloween for Nixon (and myself) was a success. I loved watching him go up to each house and see his face light up as each house provided him with more sugary sweets. I had to remind him to say trick or treat each time, he just walked up to the door arm already stretched out to grab the candy.

And though halloween was only for one night, many days after, Nixon would wake up in the morning saying "tany, tany".

Here is a little video compilation of Nixon's first official halloween trick or treating experience.
